Here's a family shot... best out of three of course you can see the huge wet spot on Lexi's shirt from her sippy cup, but that's ok!
This is some of Eugene's family, his mom is on the far right, his brother in law Jason is next, then his niece and his sister, April then Lexi and him!
blogging is for overachievers
Oh, Eugene and i went out twice without Lexi! one time with his sister and brother in law. We went to IHOP and drank lots of coffee then went to walmart. The second time we took his niece out to go see Meet The Robinsons. don't waste your money watching that movie. it was dumb. the only funny parts they show in the preview the rest is all sad and serious.
Thursday we leave for Texas, we have to be at the airport around 5:30am. that will be ewwy. i'm praying that flying doesn't bother Lexi's ears and that they don't lose our luggage. but we'll be there until Monday so it will be a nice vacation for us. not to mention the fact that i'll get to see all my nieces! (I have three new nieces i've never seen!)
I'm babysitting today-wednesday, both girls were sleeping but Lexi just woke up so i'll post some pictures then leave.
Lexi's first chocolate
Yup. we're such bad parents. Lexi is 7 months old and was enjoying her first candy bar. Hershey's with Almonds. We didn't let her have any of the nuts though. And yesterday she was enjoying my steak. She has no teeth so all she does is suck and get the juice, and man she loved it. She'd scream when i'd put it down and take a bit for me. She just wanted that steak in her mouth! Someday she'll be able to enjoy chewing it as much as she enjoys sucking on it!
Just another normal Wednesday
Right now Eugene and I have been praying that things work out with this real estate agent we're working with and that we can get approved for a house. We've been excited and looking at houses online in our price range for a week now, but we're still waiting to hear if we can get a loan. That has pretty much consumed our thoughts as you can imagine it's quite exciting to think soon we could be in our own place.
Eugene's been busy at work and church lately, at work they are almost done remodeling the office to make room for another person. They've been so busy and had a lot of work come in that 2 people is no longer enough. They also have a high school intern who comes in for a couple hours every day. Our Church is also in the process of building. We bought a new building in January which was used primarily as a youth club, so they've been working on building a couple walls, and laying carpet over the basketball court (that's the new sanctuary). Eventually they are going to begin real construction work on building the nurseries and classrooms, for now they will be in portable buildings. And after the classrooms are built they will begin building a sanctuary. Another thing he's been busy with is the youth, he's one of the Middle school youth leaders and he loves it. Since spring is here and summer is coming they have a lot of activities planned, camps, retreats, trips... he's gonna be pretty busy. In two weeks they will be attending Aquire the Fire in Nashville for a weekend, then labor day weekend is survivor camp, then in June he will be in Florida for a whole week for camp. So yah, he's going to be busy. On top of it all he just informed me that his 10 year high school reunion is going to be soon... he's so old. ;)
Lexi's not doing much, aside from perfecting the rolling. She is very interesting in the crawling she sees Emma do though. She's still got a cold, actually, i'm begining to think she's got bad allergies to what? i don't know. She's already 7 months old- which i cannot believe and has a head that's in the 90th percentile. For those of you who don't know what the whole percentile thing means- that means her head is bigger than 90% of other 7 month old girls heads... yah she's got a big head.
Most of my day is consumed with cleaning, cooking, and watching the baby/babies. I also am quite addicted to the internet and love to spend Lexi's naps sitting here looking up whatever i can and talking to my friends on AIM. I'm also getting excited for Easter, we will be taking a trip to Texas to visit my mommy, step dad and all my step siblings. As well as the 3 new nieces i've never met. We will be flying which excites me even more cuz #1 i love flying, #2 it beats a 20 hour trip in a car with a baby! Oh, i've also been getting ready for a yard sale. I love to sell stuff. I recently decided I am sick of "pretties" (things that sit on shelves and collect dust just because they're cute to look at). So 90% of my "stuff" is sitting in a pile in the middle of my bedroom. Soon it will be moved to Kathy's basement/garage until whatever Saturday in April she has picked out for the yard sale. It really helps that we are hoping to be moving because i'm pretty sure we wont be getting anything bigger than the apartment that we're in so Eugene is willing to let stuff go so that our house isn't cluttered. (he's a bit of a pack-rat).
Ok, i need to go do my devo's and my Bible study before these girls wake up. Have a great day!
Baby's first box
Lexi is thinking "Hmm, is it really possible to stick my binky and the rattle in my mouth at the same time? Let me try." Yesterday afternoon Lexi was SO fussy she would not stop screaming unless i was holding her, and i had supper to cook so i couldn't hold her. So i thought...Hmm, let's see if Lexi likes boxes! and well, she did!
Stir- Fry
Chicken noodle goodness
That is my Chicken Noodle Soup, I made it all by myself!! and it is SO yummy. i wanted to share the picture. See for V-day I made a whole chicken- for the first time ever and it was very good. but Eugene and i barely made a dent in it, so i decided i would use some of the extra to make chicken noodle soup. One problem, Eugene doesn't eat it, but I do! he he. So as i was cooking it this morning i realized how much soup i was making and that it was going to take me 3 years to eat it all, So I'm going to share it with another family, I'm even making cornbread muffins for them! yummy! Anyway, my first attempt at chicken noodle soup was very successful.

Great mystery of the universe has been solved
34th Anniversary of America's Death
So the Fetus is not a baby huh? it's just a clump of tissue? Well what happens if you leave that tissue alone for awhile? we all know what happens if it's left alone for 9 months, Let me clue you in on a couple more facts not everyone might know.
By Day 22- before you know you're pregnant that "clump of Tissue" has a beating functional heart. His heart, brain, spinal column, and nervous system are almost complete and his eyes begin to form.
Week 4: His muscles are developing, and arms and leg buds are visible. His large, distinct head is clearly identifiable, along with the major outlines of brain and eye vesicles, the beginnings of his central nervous system, mouth and pharynx, body cavity, and the basis of his skeleton
Week 6: The brainwaves of this little boy can be recorded. His different muscles begin working together.
Week 9-10: All areas of his body are sensitive to touch. He sucks his thumbs, swallows, squints, frowns and puckers his brow. If his palm is stroked, he will make a tight fist.
That is just a few facts that you might not have known. Today I tried to watch a video of an abortion, I got 3 seconds into it and almost threw up out of anger and it was also VERY gruesome. I was going to put the link on here but it's too much for me, if you have a strong stomach and are prochoice or prodeath as i like to call it I'm asking you to watch one. If you dont have a very strong stomach then I'll write a little more for your knowledge.
Here are some common abortion methods I got these from a website (www.rockforlife.org)
1. Suction Aspiration: This is the procedure most often used in the first trimester of pregnancy (the first three months). The abortionist inserts a suction tube (similar to a vacuum hose with an extremely sharp end) into the mother's womb. The suction and cutting edge dismember the baby while the hose sucks the body parts into a collection bottle.
2. Dilation and Curettage (D & C): In this procedure, the abortionist uses a loop shaped knife to cut the baby into pieces and scrape the uterine wall. The baby's body parts are then removed and checked to make sure that no pieces were left in the mother's womb.
3. Dilation and Evacuation (D & E): This form of abortion is used to kill babies in the second trimester (24+ weeks). The abortionist uses a forceps to grab parts of the baby (arms and legs) and then tears the baby apart. The baby's head must be crushed in order to remove it because the skull bone has hardened by this stage in the baby's growth.
4. Dilation and Extraction (also known as D & X or Partial-Birth Abortion): Used to kill babies well into the third trimester (as late as 32 weeks old), the abortionist reaches into the mother's womb, grabs the baby's feet with a forceps and pulls the baby out of the mother, except for the head. The abortionist then jams a pair of scissors into the back of the baby's head and spreads the scissors apart to make a hole in the baby's skull. The abortionist removes the scissors and sticks a suction tube into the skull to suck the baby's brain out. The forceps are then used to crush the baby's head and the abortionist pulls the baby's body out the rest of the way.
5. Salt Poisoning: This technique is used in the second and third trimester. The abortionist sticks a long needle into the mother's womb. The needle contains salt which is then injected into the amniotic fluid surrounding the baby. The baby breathes in, swallows the salt and dies from salt poisoning, dehydration, brain hemorrhage and convulsions. Taking nearly an hour to die, the baby's skin is completely burned, turns red and deteriorates. The baby is in pain the entire time. The mother goes into labor 24 - 48 hours later and delivers a dead baby.
6. Prostaglandins: Used during the second and third trimester, prostaglandin abortions involve the injection of naturally produced hormones into the amniotic sac, causing violent premature labor. During these convulsions the baby is often crushed to death or is born too early to have any chance of surviving.
7. Hysterotomy: Performed in the third trimester, this is basically an abortive Cesarean section (C-section). The abortionist makes in an incision in the mother's abdomen and removes the baby. The baby is then either placed to the side to die or is killed by the abortionist or nurse.
8. Chemical abortion:
a. RU-486: RU-486 blocks the hormone that helps develop the lining of the uterus during pregnancy (progesterone). This lining is the source of nutrition and protection for the developing baby. The tiny boy or girl is starved to death and then a second drug, misoprostol, causes contractions so that the dead baby is expelled from the womb.
b. Methotrexate: Highly toxic, this chemical directly attacks and breaks down the baby's fast-growing cells. It also attacks the life-support systems the baby needs to survive. When the systems fail, the baby dies. Misoprostol is then used to cause contractions and push the dead baby out of the womb.
c. Abortifacient birth control (the Pill, Depo-Provera, Norplant, the IUD, Emergency Contraception). These abortion-causing chemicals and devices can act to kill preborn children in the earliest days of life. It is well known that abortifacient methods of birth control may act to inhibit ovulation and prevent conception. However, most women don't know they also act to alter the lining of the womb so that the implantation of a newly conceived child cannot occur. If the child cannot implant in the lining of the womb to receive nourishment, he or she dies.
I bolded this last one because many people do not even know that this is how the pill works. If you are taking birth control I suggest that you read up on the type you are taking, ask your doctor how it works or look on www.rockforlife.org it has a section about contraceptives.
If you have had an abortion I thank you for reading this. I also want to tell you that your life is not over, God can and will still use you. The great thing about God is that he's a forgiving God, he's also a healing God and will help you get through. God can use you to help other women who may be thinking about abortion. We all do things wrong and to God wrong is wrong whether you lied, had an abortion, live a homosexual lifestyle, or disobeyed your parents. So do not get discouraged friend, you are forgiven and free.
To those of you who had an unwanted pregnancy and decided to let the baby live- THANK YOU. I know it took a lot and was the hard thing to do, but it was the right thing. I admire you.
So as I bring this long blog to an end I want to encourage you to take a stand. If all of us stood up and held our ground I believe this law would be reversed. As my pastor said this morning there are three things we can do Pray, Protest (peacefully) and present our faith.
a whole lot of nothing
I should probably post some new pictures of Lexi cuz she's getting big. oh i know what ones i can post....
um.. i slacked off again
We looked at these very nice new duplexes/townhouses today, but they are $750 a month... we only pay $405 right now, and for $750 a month we could be making house payments to OWN a house, so yah... even though they are beautiful and nice and new and pretty and have huge walk in closets in all 3 bedrooms plus a huge walk in closet under the stairs... and we couldn't afford them anyway.... we're gonna stay here a while longer i guess.
Today was Lexi's first day in cloth diapers. We have put her in them before, but never for a whole day. but today she only had 2 disposable diapers on, one when we were at church and one first thing this AM when i knew she was gonna go back to sleep for a while.
my back of hip or something is out of wack and my hip, knee and ankle are killing me.
Now I am going to see what my husband and baby are doing!
tig's job
I might get personal now... maybe...
So i've been feeling crappy lately- about my role as wife/mom/housekeeper and most importantly CHRISTIAN. for some reason being married totally screwed up my personal time with God that I had down pat after 10 years or being single and four years later i still havn't gotten it back where it needs to be. Which is affecting the whole rest of my life including my closeness with Eugene. Last night I got a kick in the butt from God (he kinda used Beth's life to help) and I'm feeling motivated again to take care of 1st- my God walk, 2nd my family 3rd myself and 4th my house. Hopefully I wont get lazy again and slack off after a week. I like to see quick results with EVERYTHING, Tig says I'm impatient. Normally when i don't see my body changing after a week of exercise and diet i quit. and if my life is not changing after a week of steady devotions- i quit. and if keeping my house clean doesn't get easier and Eugene doesn't start helping after a week- yup y ou guessed it- i quit. Then two weeks or so later I start feeling crappy about everything and get motivated and do the whole thing over again.... stupid cycle. I guess that means i am not disciplined. So yah, I got personal. deal with it. :)

Thanksgiving
Our house is a mess from being gone for a few days then coming home and getting right back into the swing of things with Eugene working and me working mon-wed. I'm sure Thursday I'll be busy cleaning the house.
I have some exciting news about Tig's job! awhile back the head architect from TN log homes came in and asked Jeff (Eugene's boss) if they would be willing to draw up some plans for some log homes. Jeff said yes and they were working on some contract type thing, well in the mist of it they asked Jeff to come work for them and be in charge of a new department. Jeff said yes, so that means Eugene and Jeff will be working for TN log homes soon! This is exciting!! it means moving to Athens, TN- which is about 30-40 minutes away and it means a higher pay, benefits and paid vacation!!! It's awesome! Plus Eugene will still be working for the same guy. We're very excited. We're not too sure of the details like when all this will be happening, but I think it will be in the next couple months. WOO HOO! we're very excited. I love change- especially the change of a new apartment or maybe even rental house!! WOO HOO!

bad news...
my encounter with the thief
Well, last night at 11 my friend calls me, she lives a mile away. She told me that the SWAT team was all over her neighbor hood with big spot lights and everything looking for someone, and she had called her friend who is a police officer and his wife told her that some guy broke into a house down the street from her and they caught him had him in the cop car, and he broke out the window and got away so they were searching for him. They found him not too long after he got out. I'm 95% sure it was the same guy, but I missed the news this morning and I'm waiting to see what they say. My husband's boss's wife said the thief told the cops he talked to someone threw a door.... WOO HOO, i made the news. LOL.

i feel like a slacker
Yup, man, I need a life... All I do is feed the baby and clean the house. Thursday I went to a church play date where all the stay at home mothers bring their kids to the park to play (which by the way Beth, is every week and I just didn't know it...) So my friend Laura picked Lexi and I up and we went to the park. Then we went to the court house where she got a new "tag" (lisence plate) for her car. Then Lexi and I went over to their house. We found out Lexi is allergic to cats, atleast I think because her eyes got red and puffy while we were there.
For the last few nights Lexi has successfully slept in her crib, with only a few minutes of crying when we first put her down, and an occasional cry after night feedings. (She's still up every three hours to eat) We're also working on a schedule... she goes to bed every night between 9:30 and 10. that's as far as we've gotten with a schedule.
So, she's starting to stir which means she'll wake up and want to eat, so I'll go after I post a new picture...
sorry
Ok...
Ok, I am going to post some pictures...
Two weeks old!

Well, Lexi is two weeks and 40 minutes old. (and sleeping like a log). I thought I'd post another picture of her, because she seems to change daily (that may have something to do with the weight she is gaining!) we went to the DR on Monday and she went from 4lbs 13 oz on Wednesday to 5lbs 3 oz. 6oz 5 days. pretty good if you ask me!
She loves her face, atleast it seems like she does, she always has her hands up there. she's so serious... Maybe I can find a smiling picture and post it. Anyway, here is my adorable girl...
Alexia Renee McCurdy

Alexia Renee McCurdy blessed the world with her presence on Wednesday August 2nd, 2006. She was born at 8:08pm weighing a whopping 4lbs 15 ounces and measuring in at 19 inches long. She was born 5.5 weeks early, but is hanging in there, we got to leave the hospital on Friday, but Sunday night we ended up bringing her to a Children's hospital in Chattanooga where we stayed until Tuesday night- she wouldn't eat and had a very high Jaundice level. However after 36 hours in the incubator with the billy lites on her and an IV in her arm and a ton of blood taken she is doing much better. We had to start pumping and feeding her in a bottle to get her to eat and now that is all she will do... but atleast she's eating now.
I thought I'd fill you all in on my baby... She's adorable.
Dr appointments, drive in's and car seats
Last night Eugene and I went on a date, even though there is still7 weeks before Lexi's due date, we figured we might as well just get it in just in case... Anyway, we went to a drive in! I'd never been to one. It was kinda fun and kinda frustrating at the same time. we got there at 7:45 and the movie didn't even start until 9. we spent about 45 minutes before the movie started getting the car comfortable (we have a hatch back), then right before the movie started I was looking at the sky and said "this reminds me of that part of Twister when the tornado rips through the drive in...." about three minutes into the movie the wind starts picking up real bad, the sky is a nasty color and it started raining and flashes of lightning filled the sky.... We could hear tree branches falling all around the place and the power kept flickering which was getting quite annoying because we were trying to watch Superman. Turns out you can miss the begining of superman and not lose any important information. Anyway, we ended up turning the car around and watching the movie through the windshield wipers. Well, being 33 weeks pregnant and sitting in a car for two hours is not the most comfrotable thing. I was quite miserable. Anyway, Superman wasn't all that good, but they play two movies so we got to see Click too. Click would have been a lot better without the usual perverted Adam Sandler usual comments and Scenes. It stopped raining so we got to open the windows to the car and it made it a little more enjoyable. But I still don't recommend sitting in a car from 9pm until 2:15am when you're pregnant. it's not that fun. I kinda felt like she was just going to come out from all the pressure she was putting on me!
We also got to get Lexi's stroller and car seat out of layaway yesterday! that was fun, it's exciting to have something big for her. We haven't quite figured out the car seat straps and head support thingy, but hopefully someone we know can help us with that. things are just too complicated. we also bought a shelf and two cute hooks (one's a butterfly and one's a flower) for her room! My mom has been working hard on her bedding and she showed me pictures it's looking VERY nice. I'm excited. :) Lexi's room might actually be ready for her when she comes out!
Next weekend is going to be VERY fun, and I'm so excited. My sister in law and niece are going to be staying with me from Friday until Sunday(our husband's are going to Promise Keepers). Then Sunday Beth, Josh and Olivia will be coming to visit!!! YAY! I haven't seen Beth since her wedding... cuz I'm a bad friend. But I'm thrilled! Livi is going to be sleeping in Lexi's crib so we lowered it for her and I'm washing the sheet. How exciting! I'm even going to call in sick on friday... YAY Company!!!
well, I guess that's all the excitement for now. I'll keep ya posted on the baby thing.
Scary picture

I was going to show you a good picture of me from saturday, but it turns out that all the pictures are still on the memory card which of course is in the camera. Where is the camera you ask? Well of course it's with Eugene in Florida- where else?!
So anyway, you're stuck looking at this scary fat picture of me very pregnant. I think I have a buddah belly.
I guess a month is a long time to go without posting anything huh?
My biggest worry right now is the actual labor process. Atleast that's what I think is the biggest worry.
The thought that consumes my mind the most is the fact that I do not want to work after I have her and I just don't know how we are going to work that detail out. That's one that I am trying to let God work out, but I think about it all the time.
And my biggest excitment is just knowing that I'm going to be a mommy! (scary and exciting at the same time). Soon this girl that pokes and pushes and kicks my ribs is going to come out and I'm going to be able to hold her in my arms! and change her poopy diapers too. :)
Being pregnant is a weird feeling, not just the always growing and stretching stomach, but the weird movements, the feeling of having your body part moving from the inside and you have no control over it. It's simply weird. Knowing that there is a tiny human being in me is simply amazing though. God is awesome the way he designed our bodies. Then there is the completely irrational hormonal mood swings that make you cry over the stupidest things and laugh over things that you should be crying over. I'm just glad I have a supportive husband who even though he doesn't understand why I'm crying while watching Ed, Edd and Eddy, he still loves me and shows concern (before laughing at me of course.)
Well, I guess I might try to go to sleep now, I'm kinda tired. Hope you're doing well!!!
Shoes
well...
Eugene's off in the middle of the woods for the weekend with the Youth Group. They are having "Survivor Camp." doing all sorts of weird things I'm sure. Lexi got the hiccups today, it was interesting. I think she had them yesterday too, because I kept feeling her twitch, it wasn't until today that I paid attention enough to notice it was rhythmatic.... or had rhythm. I'm a horrible speller but you know what I mean. we went to NC to visit Eugene's family this past weekend, that was TONS of fun. they had a small baby shower for us which was nice. we got some really cute stuff and a bunch of diapers! WOO WOO! It was just good to get to see his family. I wish mine lived close enough that we could drive there for a weekend.
ok, so I have NOTHING to say... so I'll just get off of here...
thanks for reading my rambles...
